Boxoffice : Relying on Prince-ass

After series of small budget Duds since last couple of weeks, Finally there’s one big budget stylish extravaganza coming this week on silver celluloid. Prince is 40+ Crore action thriller produced by Ramesh kumar Taurani fresh from the recent success APKGK and one forgettable dud “Toh Baat Pakki” , Movie is releasing with 1000+ prints and can bring cheers at box-office if really turns out to be slick and engaging movie. Audience is really dying of good entertainer and Prince can do the trick before houseful arrive after IPL season over.

Let’s have a look at few duds from past releases which was not been reported here due to nothing significant and same box-office fate of nearly all movies. Results at box-office was more depressing than entertaining.

Let’s check the collections of only success of season :Atithi tum kab jaoge : Movie has done good business of 29+ Crore and is a success for all investors.

Love Sex Aur Dokha Collected 8+ Crore and for cost of just 2 Crore, this is quite good business. Though collections are not satisfying compared to number of prints in circulation. Success for all but exhibitors. Shapit,  is also losing proposition for all with just 7+ Crore in hand. Well Done Abba, did disaster business of just under 2.25 Crores in two weeks. Lahore, Prem ka Game, My Friend Ganesha 3 : All are disasters with much less than 1 Crore.

  1. So in 2010 just one hit ATKJ,great film.and big chance to go further.this year Ajay and Akki are looking strong.Ajay(ATKJ,Rajneeti,Golmaal 3,once upon a time) and Akki(houseful,Action replay,Patiala house,Tees Mar Khan)

  2. Atithi first clean Hit of 2010

  3. BTW Price opened to average response all over, WOM is good though. Single screens reports is not available at the moment (few high end single screens at mumbai and delhi are just ok).

JKSAH is worst. This is horrific situation.

  4. Though opening of price was 30-60% at places, WOM is good enough and movie is expected to bring cheers at box-office. Finally price Ass going to save the dry run of box-office .. 🙂

  5. B.O. update: Excellent start of ‘Prince’ takes industry by surprise

I’ve always said, box-office is most unpredictable and that’s the beauty of this business. The industry was confident that Kumar Taurani’s PRINCE, starring Vivek Oberoi and directed by debutante Kookie Gulati, would embark on a thanda start at the ticket window, but its excellent start caught the industry completely unaware. The opening shows were in 50% to 70% range and at places, even better [packed to capacity].

After MY NAME IS KHAN, not a single film had registered a bountiful start at the ticket window. But Kumar Taurani’s superb promotional strategy and Vivek Oberoi’s perseverance seem to have paid off.

The second release, JAANE KAHAN SE AAYI HAI, had a tepid start. However, the reports are decent and the film should gather momentum from Friday evening onwards.
