Rock Steady Tuesday For Paa

Paa held rock steady on tuesday and did better business at many places than monday, High end multiplexes at mumbai and south are rock steady , cinemax and Fame adlabs, mumbai recorded best business of approx. 70%,  north india(NCR /UP/Punjab) are steady on lower end. DT cinemas at NCR occupied best among all. PVR-rivoli and PVR- Plaza at delhi performing best among all PVR chain in NCR. Overall tuesday was 60%+ in Mumbai and south, 50%+ in NCR and 40%+ in UP and Punjab. Collections should be better than monday(Monday was 2.25 Crore).

  1. why not collections better than sunday itself, i am amazed by your crusade of getting Paa collection past 20 cr in the first week, seems you are frightned of it not getting the hit tag, and tryng yourbest at adding some virtual crores as there only 3 days left before Rocket singh onslaught.

I remind you that satyam will not be satysfied by 25 or 30 cr so please get the overall total atleast to 40 cr to make Satyam and Co happy.

    • “why not collections better than sunday itself”

This is like you are asking yourself “why i born later in this world, why not early” .. Ha .. silly one

sam,if you don’t believe in these numbers then you can trust BOI, even BOI is not bad till now and is expecting 17 crore (which itself means 20 crore atleast).

ok .. even i go BOI way :

      1st week : 17 Crore
2nd Week : 10 Crore (will drop least because of excellent WOM)
      3rd week : 5 Crore
      4rth Week : 3 Crore

      rest : 3 Crore

This comes to 37 Crore … i guess even by BOI way , 37 crore is soft target for Paa ..

  2. Paa had a decent collection on Monday of around 1.75 crore nett. If we look at it from a Friday drop point of view it is very good with just a 10-15% drop. But the problem is the Friday collections were very low which makes its Monday business of 1.75 crore nett just about par for the film. The four day total is around 12.75 crore nett.

The first week is now heading for around 17 crore nett business. The film will emerge a hit if it has a good second week. If it was to drop in week two it should still emerge an Average fare thanks to fairly low costs.

  3. 2009 Box Office Verdicts With One Month Left

    Tuesday 8th December 2009 19.30 IST

    Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

The year 2009 is coming to and end with two major Hindi releases left in Rocket Singh – Salesman Of The Year and Three Idiots. The box office results of De Dana Dhan and Paa are dependent on their run in the next week or two. The results so far for Hindi films are as follows with the four above mentioned films having a chance to get into top ten.

    1. Wanted – SUPER HIT

    2. Love Aaj Kal – SUPER HIT

    3. Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani – SUPER HIT

    4. New York – HIT

    5. Kaminey – SEMI HIT

    6. Raaz TMC – SEMI HIT

    7. Kambakkht Ishq – ABOVE AVERAGE

    8. All The Best – ABOVE AVERAGE

    9. Wake Up Sid – ABOVE AVERAGE

    10. Dev D – ABOVE AVERAGE

  4. For your knowledge Every site have given numbers that are in the same range be it Bollywood hungama, BOI, or BOC and the nummbers estimated by Yakuza are infalted as he was adding 1 cr+ in weekends days and now he’s adding 0.5 for each week days, don’t tell me to not bilieve in all the source and trust only Bollybusiness

    • so you believe in theory that if 4 out of 6 are teling lie, you should treat it as truth. or vice versa.
Here I am not proving that bollybusiness is right or others are wrong, point is that there is no authenticity of their numbers too. and all of sudden whole media in same page itself is a mystery which never happened in past. This point makes me more to believe on bollybusines than others .. and i mean it ..

  5. what a shame you don’t bilieve even in the numbers given by ABcorp 10 cr Gross for the first to days (domestic + international market) wich translate to 6-6.5 cr nett for these to days ( 5.5 cr domestic 1 cr international)
wich mach with all the sources (BOI, Bollywood hungama, BOC…, and contradicts the numbers given by Yakuza:

Here is what ABcorp were saying:
Paa , directed by R Balakrishnan aka Balki, has raked an estimated Rs 10 crore as gross revenues in domestic and international box office in the first two days, said a senior executive with AB Corp which has produced the movie in association with Reliance Big Pictures.

    • This is fake news without any source. BigB denied such reports in his blog, he will come up with figures in few days.

This is from bigB blog :

“So that was put on hold for a while and the larger portion of the day went away in discussing the financial aspects of the film as seen from one of the initial investors of the project. Financial discussion has always ended up with me not understanding the conditions of the market and leaving the decisions to the others. And that is what we did. Throughout the day the reports have been coming in, they look encouraging and good, but it would as always not be prudent to talk about them at this stage. Suffice to say that each hour promises improved collections and that bodes well for the film. A few more days will give us a complete picture of the matter and it would best be the time to bring it out in the open.”

And you want to believe in these fake news because it suits you .. Ha ..

  6. Sam, we get your point but you have become VERY irritating and are acting like a cry baby all the time. Can you just lay it to rest. Just come once and for all when the final numbers are out and then put forth all your arguments. Please keep quite till then.

  7. and for your knowledge these sites take their times to collects the numbers from the large majority of the multiplexes players, and whereas Mr Yakuza have only the collections from somes multiplexes and those numbers he has don’t represent more than 30-40% of the total masses so he has a large probabilty to come up with errors, and i ‘m gentle here but his hurry to declares verdicts especially for Paa and declaring it hit each time from day one, whereas he is shaying from declaring De Danna Dan a semi hit or Hit. make me bilieve tha this site is turning outvto be a second biased boxoffice site towards the bachchans.

Some days before he was saying the he will declare De Dana Dan a hit at 40 cr, and now he is making games and rising the Bar for this movie. everyone fells that Yakuza is not fear towards some stars as his behavior towards bachchans

    • “everyone fells that Yakuza is not fear towards some stars as his behavior towards bachchans”

few days back when aladin was released, this site was one who put harsh commentary and lowest numbers for movie.

“Some days before he was saying the he will declare De Dana Dan a hit at 40 cr, and now he is making games and rising the Bar for this movie”

De Dana Dan deal is not even clear to Komal nahta yet, BABA arts has removed that article from their site where it was mentioned that they baught rights for DDD for 30 crore inclusive satellite rights too. And there are other rumours round the corner too, now what he can do ? He can’t give verdict based on any statement which to his knowledge was true at that time and now proving wrong by producers themselves.

      como’n sam, grow up.

  8. NO need to fight i am sure, in the end , BOllybusiness and BOI will have similar numbers, max 2-3 cr difference overall.

    Same happened during Wanted,AJAB etc.

  9. If someone bought the rights for De Dana Dan for 30 crores including satellite, it shows how porly akshay Kumar is rtaed compared to amir or Hritik or shahrukh, whose films with same kind of production cots are lapped up for 90 or 100 crores!

    • 90 crore for MNIK is wordwide rights of all available sources .. including satellite, video, DTH, music .. these are international rights.

if we deduct 35 crore overseas earning, and 30-35 crore from all other sources, indian rights comes to 20-25 crore only.

    • Hrithik and SRK do one movie in 2 years. Akshay does 5 movies in one year. Keep that in mind.

  10. @doga, these arguments is just to stop irritating sam …infact we get his point what he want to say, but his remarks are kiddish .. he is like “if i put same comment thrice , it may have better effect” .. 🙂

  11. And tell me that everyone is against bachchan including Taran Adarsh whose numbers are less than Yakuza. 2.25Cr for the first day and 11 cr for the week-end.. if so why Abishek accept to be his guest in his show:

Taran Adarsh With Abhishek Bachchan Part 1

    • Again playing silly .. interview and colelctions are two different things ..

Taran Adarsh quoted 10 crore NETT for first day of blue .. Such an highly acclaimed trade analyst come up with such high degree of pseudo numbers .. how can you trust Taran ???

For KI, he mixed Nett with Gross .. He is such a CHOR .. How can you trust him ??

and why are you so impatience ? can’t you wait for abhishek himself putting numbers ???

  12. PAA is awesome.might be its going hit and may be PAA will be blockbuster if go like this.sorry SAM for ur kind information PAA declared HIT everywhere even in overseas.U wll be very disappointed but we r very happy for success of PAA.amazing results of PAA.Taran also declared PAA hit.

  13. IBN -Filmi Fiscal BO on Paa, Radio(Ist day) and De Dan Dan (on next Friday)

Filmi Fiscal : Paa Fails to woo audiences

Shaeksper says on this on NaachGaana:

Is this in response to whats going on on bachchanshot? must be else why repost this report when the first one i posted is still on the front page?

thos bachchan fans need not be taken this seriously – they scouted and shouted the highest possible inflated numbers for Guru … they are doing the same on Paa …whats the surprise? SS numbers on bachchan movies are same as IBOS or bollybusiness reporting on the movies of their idol – Bachchan.

Anyways, every other source from this one to taran to nahata to boi to businessofcinema has reported 2 cr for Friday and 11 cr weekend … not that any of these are not biased in different planes, but all of them biased against bachchan on Paa? thats hard to digest.

This movie will do well and get to the 25-30 cr range .. that wud be good considering the budget is reportedly 15 cr … print and promotion may take it to 20 cr range … and since bachchans have not charged fees for this, they may as well get their usual acting fees as the profit of the producers. Alls well that ends well.

    • “Anyways, every other source from this one to taran to nahata to boi to businessofcinema has reported 2 cr for Friday and 11 cr weekend … not that any of these are not biased in different planes, but all of them biased against bachchan on Paa? thats hard to digest.”

How one can digest the overreporting of Wanted and KI by all these independent medias ? All were in same plateform while overreporting these movies. This is hard to digest but yes, this is truth …..

    • And again .. is it not hard to believe that all of sudden every media is reporting same figure .. how it is possible that all of sudden BOI/Taran and Boc come together with exactly same figures ??? isn’t this give some sense of consipancy ??

  14. no not all well that ends well, this movie will not even reach half of what TZP 62 cr or CDI 68 cr did.

that shows the Weight of the Mighty Bachchan family:
AB senior+AB junior < 50% of Aamir or SRK .

    • Black in 2005 did 30 Crore … while Swadesh(highest accaimed movie of decade) did only half of black … only 17 crore .. now see .. SRK < 50% of amitabh .. 🙂

  15. See now you are back to Bachchan bashing and still want us to take you seriously.

  16. Ok here is what Indicine has to say. They have put the monday’s figure at 2.75 crores and expected weekend around 20 crores.
    Paa Box office Updates
    Posted by: Indicine Team | December 7th, 2009 |
Paa produced by the Bachchan’s under their AB Corp banner, opened to a good response from the audiences on Friday. The business though, as expected was average on the opening day but has picked up all over on Saturday due to positive reviews and strong word of mouth.

Occupancy was best at major cities like Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi. The first day (Friday) nett is around 2 – 2.5 crores, while Saturday and Sunday were approximately in the 4 – 5 crore range.

Single screens too witnessed a hike in ticket sales on Saturday and Sunday, with occupancy ranging from 20% for the morning shows to 60% for the evening shows. Note – These figures are from some of the single screen theaters we contacted in Bangalore, Mumbai and a few other towns / cities.

For a film released on around 525 screens, these are good numbers. The curiosity to watch Amitabh Bachchan as Auro, the amazingly positive reviews and excellent word-of-mouth should all help the film easily recover its investment by the end of week 1.

    Day 1 – 2 crores
    Day 2 – 3.5 crores
    Day 3 – 5.5 crores

    First Weekend: 11 crores

    Day 4 (Monday) – 2.75 crores (approx)

Paa has picked up big time, almost doubling its Friday collections on Saturday and tripling on Sunday! Such spike in business is a rarity these days. The Monday collections are expected to be better than Friday and the movie is expected to remain strong at the box office for the rest of the weekdays.

    Content is the king!

    Week 1: 20 crores (expected)

    • Indicine and BOI are same .. 2.75 crore for monday is Typo .. or you can say just to keep different tone ..

  17. Simple doubt— wy only Paa movie updates r given daily… other movie updates wer so late..
Is it some sort of promotion….? 😉

  18. Awesome, hope it holds on more!!!! Should be a HIT EASY!

  19. […] – Bollybusiness […]

  20. sam, do not tryto compare Amithab with SRK or Amir. He is alsmot 70 years old and Amir and SRK are in thier peak.

It is like trying compare Robert Deniro with Brad Piit or Tom hanks or Will Smith.

But one thing is for sure you can most certainly conpare Amithab in his prime with SRK or Amir or any one from the bollywood industry for that matter.

I think Amithab has done a fantasric job with this movie. I do not uderstand why you cannot just appreciate that and stop with this childish comparisons and bashing.

  21. Sam,
You may disagree with bollybusiness figures, infact I also think that the figures are a bit inflated, but why you are trying to prove this sight is wrong again and again. you do not believe figures quoted here, fine, you mentioned this thing here, that is also fine. But why again and again.
As mentioned earlier, i also think that the figures are a bit inflated, but i am not mentioning it again and again. All sites have their sources and they all have their biases also but this is true for all sites. In a reputed newspaper, i read kaminey as the biggest hit of the year, can that be true, no. But again they claim their figures correct. Take the case of ibos, they say that wanted is just above average movie, however, most other sites quote wanted as biggest hit of the year.
So, you may disagree and have right to mention you disagreement but not again and again.

  22. Amod mehra confirms 13 crore weekend ..

  23. Too much discussions here for Paa numbers, i suggest you guys to let complete first week of Paa, wait for final numbers before reaching to any conclusion. If there is any error in numbers at the moment, will be rectify after a week. And this is usual practice for all movies, Paa is not exceptional.

  24. 1.50 Cr on tuesday and total till now of 14.25 Cr
Headind toward 16.5 cr in first week :

    BOI report:
1.50 Crore Nett For Paa On Tuesday

    Wednesday 9th December 2009 14.30 IST

    Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Paa grossed just under 1.50 crore nett on Tuesday to take its total to 14.25 crore approx. The week should add another 2.25 crore nett for a 16.50 crore nett first week total.

On Tuesday most theatres remained steady with collections on the lower side while some theatres showed bigger drops. High end multiplexes are seeing best business especially in Mumbai and South.

    • That’s what I predicted for week one. So 2nd week is the key for the movie.

    • Lolzz, sam your dream of 12 crore first week is shattered even by BOI .. 😀

Now if BOI is saying 16.5 crore, it would definitely be about 20 crore.

  25. Mr jazz, i was saying -12 cr for the first week end, and 15 – 17 cr for the first week, and i never said that Paa would flop, it’s just that given the big competition with Rocket singh next week, Paa will suffer and the drop could be big (>60%) resulting in second week of 5-6cr, and the next week would see rocket singh still going strong and not to forget 3Idiots, so Paa has no chances improving revenues like what we saw wuth TZP or CDI, and total for Paa would not exced 24-25 (BOI) or even if we strech like Bollybusiness it will never go beyond 28-30cr so it will be an above average movie (BOI, BOC, Taran verdict) or a semi hit at best ( Bollybusiness. so Paa at Max will be on the league of A wake up Sid or Rock on.

  26. Paa Is Poor In International Markets

    Wednesday 9th December 2009 09.00 IST

    Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Paa was poor in Innternational markets with around 2.50 crore from all markets. Below are figures from major markets.

    United Kingdom – £66,588 (51 lakhs)

    North America – $199,228 (93 lakhs )

    UAE – $130,000 (61 lakhs)

De Dana fell very badly in all markets. It has 3.75 crore in United Kingdom, 4.25 crore in North America and 3.50 crore in Middle East. All International markets have given around 14.50 crore in ten days. ABOVE AVERAGE

  27. BigB thrilled with success of Paa :

  28. Yakuza,
Taran has been very happy with Paa collections and he claims a 11cr weekend. Infact his numbers are extremely close to BOI numbers. Your numbers and your commentary looks more like a bachchan-fans dream rather than a reality. Taran’s comment is here. I dont see a reason why he will under-report. You should correct your numbers.

“Had a slow Friday [approx. Rs. 2.15 cr.], although business picked up in the evening shows. Saturday witnessed a big jump in business at plexes [approx. Rs. 3.50 cr.]. Sunday showed a further jump [approx. Rs. 5.25 cr. to Rs. 5.50 cr.]. Such escalation in day-wise business is a rarity in today’s times. Only goes to show that the film has been lapped up in a big way. Monday is expected to be better than Friday”

    • Infact BOI’s and Taran’s numbers are so close that your numbers look completely out of place. Again, the conspiracy theory of collusion may only suit a few bachchan fans, not the other observers of box office.

    • Anuj, i will not go by Taran or any other sources, neither i claimed any conspiracy. only issue is friday/saturday numbers. now i do have approx. 90 lacs of collections in hand from approx. 200 screens and if my calculation for first day leads to 3.25 crore(from 525 screens) then what should i do ? yes i always correct figures for each movie in later days when i get more numbers , for example i miscalculated Kurbaan first week to 17 crore (and now after getting more data it come close to 18.5 crore ). However miscalculation is wrong word here, you can say conclusion of my analysis.

now what i can do ?

      1. i can do analysis with available numbers and give you estimated total.
      2. i can correct total figure after getting more data.

      and what i can’t do ?

      1. i can’t take numbers from other boxoffice portals and put here as it is, then what’s the purpose left for this blog?
      2. i can’t even change my total later if even after getting more data my calculations hardly vary.

In any case i will stick to my numbers, because these numbers are result of my analysis and if it comes odd from others then i will be more happy to get some unique result.

Anuj, i appreciate your concern, but believe me what i am doing is right to my belief.

  29. Mr Yakuza, if your have 90 lacks in the first day from 200 screens, how come it translate to 3.25 cr from 525 screens

    525 equal to (2.6 x 200), so (2.6 x 90 lacks) hardly goes to 2.4 cr and not 3.25 cr

i can correct total figure after getting more data.
    and what i can’t do ?

i can’t even change my total later if even after getting more data my calculations hardly vary.

is not there a contradiction, you must change your numbers if your first estimation is wrong or when you get more data as it will be more accurate

    • sam, it’s not as simple as to do 2.6 x 90 lacs. 90 lacs are from screens which exclude some high end multiplexes too. 200 screens include many screens which are 40-50 seater screens as well. Entire PVR chain is unreported which contributes a lot more. if you have ever seen Jayshah work, every trade analyst use similar model(with little variation) to reach to final numbers. And if you have noticed, that is not simply X * Z model.

    • i can correct total figure after getting more data.
      and what i can’t do ?

i can’t even change my total later if even after getting more data my calculations hardly vary.

is not there a contradiction ?

@Sam, i said that i will publish only my analysis results and as you must have seen in past, i correct figures if there is any change in result after getting more data. But i will not change final numbers based on other’s reported numbers.

for eg. My first estimate for DDD first week was 31 Crore, after second round of analysis it comes to 32. But just because few other portals are reached at 34 i will not change my number.

    want to see real auro
    must watch video

  31. Yakuza, thanks for Nth time clarification, better you write all this in a fixed page and always put link whenever someone question you on numbers .. 🙂

What i believe BOI, Taran, Komal etc .. All are same source .. And it not all of sudden .. i notice it many times .. let’s take few instance :

    1. How all of sudden Taran,BOI, Komal numbers for Paa matches accurately ? And why bollybusiness is odd among all ?
    2. Why there is no numbers till date for radio for even a single day by any media except bollybusiness ?? Why not BOI, Taran or any other source like copycats Indicine, Glamsham etc .. publish any numbers of radio ?? Mean when one source (BOI) give any number .. all sources all of sudden start pouring numbers. Bollybusiness is exceptional here who also give numbers of radio for first day.
    3. How all of sudden BOI and Taran are coming in synch for numbers (Paa and DDD) ..
    4. Why DDD second weekend numbers were on hold untill bollybusiness give his own number of 7 Crore .. and how all of sudden BOI on same day in evening publish almost same number (6.5 crore) .. and i am sure now all other Morons will follow same number ..

All these points indicates .. there is no source of boxoffice for all portals, one publish numbers and all other follows them blindly …

I regards bollybusiness in this sense to be Odd among all and give numbers first ever on Net (that’s why this gives me more trust on him) … Yakuza .. i appreciate you on this ..

  32. Another source With 11 cr for Paa in the Weekend: AOL Bollywood

Bollywood box-office report of the week
    Abid, Bollywood Trade News Network

    Last Updated: December 09,2009 13:50:00
    [wire photo]

This Friday will see a solo release in the form of Yash Raj’s Shimit Amin directed Ranbir Kapoor starrer, ROCKET SINGH – SALESMAN OF THE YEAR. The film has been in the news (apart from its unique but few promos) for the lack of promotion! But as per the trade, probably Yash and Aditya Chopra don’t want to raise the expectations too much, and that is why the low key publicity. It will be interesting to see if the strategy works in its favour. Chances are it may!

Last Friday saw the release of the two Bachchan starrer, PAA and Himesh Reshammiya’s RADIO. As expected the battle was comprehensively won by the Balki directed PAA, while RADIO just failed to tune to the right frequency! And now for the details.Released at 93 cinemas of Mumbai-Thane (thru Reliance Big Pictures) PAA saw an ordinary opening. Outside of Mumbai, the opening was generally weak all over. However, the film started improving as the day progressed and picked up good pace over the weekend netting a good 11 crores. Given its low budget of 15 crores, PAA is sure to emerge as a good success, with good collections mainly from the A centre multiplexes. PAA has not done well in the Overseas grossing a poor £66,588 from UK and a so-so $199,228 from US during the opening weekend (4-6 December).

On the other hand RADIO released at around 50 cinemas of Bombay-Thane (thru Lords Films) and saw a terribly poor to disastrous opening all over. Despite its low 6 crore budget, RADIO will not be able to complete even a week’s run at most cinemas.

The Eid-Ul-Azha release, Priyadarshan’s DE DANA DAN reaped the benefit of the holidays and after a good weekend, remained steady even on Monday. However, collection began to drop from Tuesday, except for C.I. and Rajasthan. The film collected 5.85 crores from Bombay, 1.60 crores from Ahmedabad, 40 lakhs from Surat, 6.25 lakhs each from Bardoli and Nadiad, 2.50 lakhs from Halol, 1.50 lakhs from Godhra, 18 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 4.50 lakhs from Bharuch, 5.60 lakhs each from Himmatnagar and Mehsana, 6.75 lakhs each from Palanpur and Valsad, 30 lakhs from Rajkot, 2 lakhs from Botad, 9 lakhs from Jamnagar, 2.35 lakhs from Surendranagar, 4 lakhs from Junagarh, 12 lakhs from Bhavnagar, 4.15 lakhs from Porbandar, 3.45 lakhs from Bhuj, 8 lakhs from Gandhidham, 3.15 lakhs from Adipur, 32 lakhs from Pune, 7.35 lakhs from Solapur, 3.25 lakhs from Sangli, 15.25 lakhs from Nasik, 4.35 lakhs from Hubli, 4 lakhs from Belgaum, 3.40 crores from Delhi city, 40 lakhs from Noida, 30 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 30.25 lakhs from Kanpur, 39.25 lakhs from Lucknow, 16.35 lakhs from Agra, 5.20 lakhs from Allahabad, 14.25 lakhs from Meerut, 5.50 lakhs from Bareilly, 7 lakhs from Aligarh, 5.65 lakhs from Gorakhpur, 56.15 lakhs from Gurgaon, 25 lakhs from Faridabad, 16 lakhs from Chandigarh, 5.15 lakhs from Zirakpur, 4.45 lakhs from Bhatinda, 5.85 lakhs each from Ambala and Kurukshetra, 9.35 lakhs from Panipat, 3 lakhs from Pathankot, 91 lakhs from Calcutta, 1.15 lakhs from Darjeeling, 5 lakhs from Guwahati, 38 lakhs from Nagpur, 10.35 lakhs from Jabalpur, 6.50 lakhs from Amravati, 5.35 lakhs from Akola, 17.15 lakhs from Raipur, 2 lakhs from Dhule, 3.50 lakhs from Durg, 2.75 lakhs from Wardha, 4.50 lakhs from Chandrapur, 3.25 lakhs from Khandwa, 50 lakhs from Indore, 3.50 lakhs from Ujjain, 83 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 14.35 lakhs from Ajmer, 8.65 lakhs from Bikaner, 20 lakhs from Kota, 2 lakhs from Sriganganagar, 3.45 lakhs from Kishangarh, 1 crore from Hyderabad, 1.75 lakhs from Warangal, 8 lakhs from Aurangabad, 3.35 lakhs from Nanded, 2 lakhs from Parbhani, 6.50 lakhs from Gulbarga, 30 lakhs from Bangalore, 8.65 lakhs from Mangalore, 2.15 lakhs from Vijaywada, 3 lakhs from Madras (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 1.35 lakhs from Madurai and 1.25 lakhs from Coimbatore.

In its opening week DE DANA DAN has netted a good 33.50 crores. The Akshay, Suniel, Paresh and Katrina starrer still has to work to get to a safe status, thanks to another high price tag. In the Overseas DE DANA DAN is a success for EROS International though it has crashed as compared to the first weekend grossing £476,512 from UK and $913,899 from US up to the second weekend (4-6 December).

    • sam, This report is from Adib of or you can say Tango of Naachgaana, He don’t have any direct source, he used numbers of Komal Mahata (filminformation). And he is openly a SRK biggest Fan.

you know what it means, if one source do any conspiracy, others(Adib, indicine and all others) will follow same. This report reflects nothing but Nahta’s report.

    • Yup, this is adib of glamsham, He used komal Nahta Numbers (Filminformation), but Komal has not given any weekend numbers yet, don’t know if he give weekend report picked from other portals(BOI). this is ridiculous on his part.

  33. And don’t tell they are also conspirating against Bachchans

  34. any new update for paa????????????????????

    • Its doing good. not as good or as bad as some are suggesting. But its certainly doing good for its budget.

  35. Yakuza, you may use your method. but what if your method gives 20-30% higher than others… while BOI and Taran all have same numbers? There must be something seriously wrong with the method.

Now, Jeevan is suggesting here that Taran, Komal and BOI are all same source. LOL. I certainly think that as a site you dont need such desperate and ridiculous support. What I dont understand is your silence….. even when you know he is lying.

    • “Yakuza, you may use your method. but what if your method gives 20-30% higher than others”

Dear anuj, its not about method !! Its always about data available. I can trust and work upon data available to me only. And there is no standard bar defined for which i can judge that i am 20-30% higher or lower.

“while BOI and Taran all have same numbers”

Anuj, what you suggest to me ? should my aim be to reach as close as possible to their numbers or should stick to numbers available to me ?? What’s the purpose of my analysis in that case?

“Jeevan is suggesting here that Taran, Komal and BOI are all same source. LOL. I certainly think that as a site you dont need such desperate and ridiculous support. What I dont understand is your silence….. even when you know he is lying.”

What i guess from his statement is mere judgment on other portals. And i am not willing to comment on others at the moment.

    • Anuj, i am not confirming anything about Taran and BOI .. but i am just predicting based on some instances ..

ok, can you clarify me one thing ?

How all of sudden entire media forget to include preview shows collections in weekend report, preview shows went packed houses every where and there was around 30 preview shows. Why every source come in synch with each other and forget to include handsome collections of preview shows ???

  36. Sam, I know Taran and BOI have said 11cr weekend. where did Komal say anything about the weekend collections?

  37. sam u always trying to get negative report for paa :o,

  38. Komal Nahatais the most Accurate Trade person in Bollywood when it come to Collections, he is the last to give them and taking his time to come with tha most available data, the problem is in his harsh classification not in his numbers

    • He also never gives complete numbers, his numbers are also partial .. 40-50% … rest is just estimation prepared by Tango-shango-bhango and many more mango people ..

  39. Paa fetched around 10-12 Crore for Satelite right!!!

Below is the report from Business Standard
In order to give a boost to its almost stagnant ratings, STAR Plus, the number two Hindi entertainment channel, is betting big on Bollywood films.

Within past few weeks, STAR India [ Images ] has picked up exclusive satellite rights for blockbusters, including Paa, Wanted, De Dana Dan, Aladin and Drona for Rs 50 crore, the highest among the leading broadcasters this year for exclusive content.

STAR Plus, the longest running leader in the Hindi general entertainment genre (for almost nine years) was pushed to the second spot by Colors earlier this year. Airing of exclusive movies on the entertainment channels tends to push weekly ratings by 15-20 per cent. Therefore, broadcasters like STAR India have gone in for exclusive telecast rights of latest blockbuster films.

Rivals like Colors, Zee TV, Sony TV, NDTV Imagine, among others, have also gone after satellite rights of Bollywood films, but for a non-exclusive arrangement. This means Bollywood hits like Kurbaan, Kaminey or Wake Up Sid will be aired on multiple TV channels in 2010 to 2014 and not on just one channel.

As opposed to this, STAR India has gone in for exclusive rights for the Amitabh Bachchan [ Images ] starrer Paa, which is currently doing a brisk business at the box-office. According to industry sources, STAR may have paid Rs 10-12 crore each for the satellite rights for Paa, Wanted (Salman Khan [ Images ]) and De Dana Dan [ Images ] (Akshay Kumar [ Images ], Katrina Kaif [ Images ]).

Confirming to Business Standard, Anupam Vasudev, EVP (marketing), STAR India, said: “We have acquired several titles, both new and library (re-buys) through 2009.”

    • Thanks somnath, 10 Crore is pretty good bucks, much above the trend so far.

      • Any information about DS for PAA and 1st week number?

        • Around 8 crore NETT from approx. 220 screens. Let me get few more single screens numbers, will come with final estimated Nett by evening. My wild guess is approx. 18-19 Crore first week. BTW Paa opened to steady response today (however on lower side).
