A passing note on DIL BOLE HADDIPA (Hindi, 2009)

Yashraj films have decreased not only at the box-office over time, but also in the quality department. The banner at one stage was synonymous with critical and box-office acclaim, and now here’s a time where both are hard to come by.

The main problem here is that every single thing is predictable and has a lethargic sense of déjà-vu attached to it. The story and screenplay by Aparjita borrows heavily not only from the Hollywood hit SHES THE MAN, but films like DDLJ, VEER-ZAARA, CHAK DE…INDIA and LAGAAN (though don’t be fooled in to believing this is a sports movie, it’s far from it!), however the end result is a boring film.
