Top 10 Amitabh Bachchan performances Post Millenium

I couldn’t do the pre millenium and not the other, so here goes the “post millennium” top 10 performances. In no particular order as promised…

1) AKS (2001): This is a performance that would quiet easily feature in my top 10 best Bachchan performances ever. Rakyesh Om Prakash Mehra’s twisted, soul-swapping thriller featured one of Amitabh’s most skilful performances as far as acting goes. The first half required him to play a dedicated cop on the hunt of a psychotic serial killer Raghavan(Manoj Bajpai in a superlative performance) however the second half required him to act like the Raghavan as his soul enters Manu Verma’s body. Amitabh performs his part with such a deep understanding of his character it’s hard to find any faults here. The manner in which Amitabh convinces the viewer that he is Raghavan has to be seen to be believed, the psychotic glint in the eye, maniacal laughter and terrifying aura is enough to hit the nail on the head. Just witness the sequence where he admits he’s scared after raping his own wife..chilling!
