Agree Rosh. Vipul really pissed me off with LD. he didn’t promote it like he did with previous movies. Plus Salman said in many interviews after that he wanted the film shorter (20 mins to be exact).
The only 2 directors I want bhai to work with are Suraj Bajratya and RKS.
SLB is another user. Salman gave him his break. Bhai got stabbed in the back with SAWARIYAA (role was supposed to be longer) then Salman according to reliable sources took the idea of GUZAARISH to him. The project got the green light until Hrithik rang Salman saying he’s doing the film.

Recently released block buster ‘Dabangg’ star Salman Khan is all set to host the Bigg Boss 4 which is expected to win over every reality show ongoing on other TV channels.
The house escapes would be more popular this time who will surely add some masala to the show. To start with, Indian tennis star Sania Mirza along with her husband, Pakistani cricketer husband Shoaib Malik would be seen in the show.
Snageeta Bijlani, Sallu’s ex-girlfriend would also probably be joing the show.

Salman and Katrina: Lovebirds return to the nest!
After a brief period in which both Salman and Katrina admitted candidly that they have broken up, news has come out that the duo would be sharing screen space in the new Farah Khan Venture Tees Maar Khan with Akshay Kumar as its lead, albeit in an item number. They may also be appearing together in “Bodyguard” as lead stars, the movie being produced by Alvira and Atul Agnihotri, Salman’ sister and brother in law.
Considering, both Salman and Katrina’s discomfort in each other’s company, this casting comes nothing short of a coup and has set the gossip mongers wagging their tongues about a possible re-union of the two estranged lover.
After a very public break up, which gave Katrina enough anguish, the patch up effort seems likely as both Salman and Katrina were quite besotted with each other. Jab Sallu ho sath, does one need to worry in Bollywood? Sonakshi Sinha wasn’t interested in venturing into films, but was prodded by Salman Khan to star opposite him in the mega hit Dabangg. Now, Salman is learnt to be shifting his attention to her brother Luv Sinha.
We have learnt that Salman has started taking keen interest in Luv’s derailed acting career. Needless to say that when Salman shows interest in someone, the first thing he does is give out an invitation to join his gym. The Bollywood’s fit hero has even trained Hrithik Roshan at one time.
Nobody even remembers that Luv has made his debut this year. His film Sadiyaan made on India-Pakistan partition was a big dud at BO instead of big names like Rekha and Hema Malini in its cast.
Now, to begin with, Luv will join the dabangg Salman in his gym and then along with fitness tips will come the guidance for career as well.

Sonakshi Sinha makes her big bang entry to Bollywood due to Salman Khan!
Sonakshi, a.k.a. Sona, had a dream debut in the hindi movie dom. What with the most followed Khan, Salman, as her first leading man and movie which is breaking all records of Bollywood as her introduction to the Indian Movie Scene. She says “It was Salman who convinced me to get into films”.

It is a known fact that Salman Khan would be joining Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif for a special ‘qawalli’ track in TEES MAAR KHAN. What is not known so far though is the inspiration behind the track. Farah Khan, the director of the film, is more than happy to spill the beans.
“Do you remember ‘Yeh Ishq Ishq Hai Ishq Ishq”, the ‘qawalli’ from BARSAAT KI RAAT which was created 50 years back? It still sounds so fresh. The ‘qawalli’ in TEES MAAR KHAN, though not sounding absolutely like that, is on the same lines”, Farah reveals.

She goes on to add, “Of course because it is set in today’s times, it has a different spice to it. Still, it isn’t one of those rock ‘qawallis’ or ‘disco qawallis’. When you would hear it, you would realise the different flavour that it is carrying. It should be fun to have Salman and Akshay come together for this song with Katrina joining them as well. With the kind of fan following that the three of them enjoy, this number is going to be a rage.”

Hey guys any information about Dabangg’s saturday collection.
That’s great list! Aamir’s only ”scar” of this decade, Mangal Pandey is more watched than even OSO, Partner, Welcome, Bunty Aur Babli etc. That only explains that it wasn’t a total disaster or washout or total reject as it was made to be. Media makes it seem as if MP sank without a trace and was like some big blot on Aamir’s career this decade and was rejected instantly at the box office!
It sure didn’t do as well as expected, but it wasn’t a dismal failure too. It seems perhaps Aamir is somewhat right in interviews to say that the film didn’t do as badly as it was reported by some sections of media. I used to think he’s hopelessly defending it now, because all his previous releases have done really well. But in some ways, maybe he was right.
Though I would always maintain that I didn’t like MP at all!
P.S. – I hope Yakuza, the Mangal Pandey which you mentioned in the list is Aamir’s 2005 film, MP!
Anyway, it’s interesting to note that Salman, Aamir and even Akshay’s films are higher in this list of most watched films, than SRK’s films (even his huge multistarrers)! So much for his so-called base of 3.5 billion fans and being still called by sycophants like Zoom TV ”as the undisputed badshah of Bollywood”!
He rules overseas market, but that constitutes a lesser percentage of a film’s total collections. His ”badshah’ or as his fans say ”king of the world” bit seems to be rather exaggerated and hyped up. I mean the way media makes it seem as if he’s the only star, and all others are ”nothing” in front of him, that stance seems foolish! [No offense to SRK fans. His consistency is to be applauded, his accomplishments in other areas apart from films are exemplary and the way he's handled and diversified his career right from the beginning is great, unlike Aamir-Salman etc., who've had their share of mistakes.]

Dabangg and Katrina Kaif- these have been the two names around which Salman Khan’s current period has revolved; stories churned out and served. With ‘Dabangg’ taking control of the box office in full swing, the talks have now shifted towards a reunion of Sallu and his Cat (rather Kat).
The gallery of the gossip world was replete with hushed shudders after Salman and Katrina had vented out their angst when prodded by news channels. The fact that the love birds had broken up after 7 long years of togetherness wasn’t going down the throat of Salman-Kat fans.
And the whispers were hoarse again! Is Salman unlucky in love? Surely, the episode of Salman-Aishwarya is still fresh in Indian minds.
However, amidst all these hue and hoopla, comes a positive news ushering in hope and optimism. Reports are rife that Salman and Katrina are en route to reconciliation. Reportedly, Katrina has given her nod to ‘Bodyguard’, the directorial debut of Salman’s sister Alvira. Salman shall play the male protagonist in this flick which shall walk into the theatres on the auspicious date of Eid 2011.

mami has slapped a legal notice on the makers of Salman Khan-starrer Dabangg saying that they have infringed on copyright and defamed one of the company’s most popular products, Zandu Balm. In the film, actress Malaika Arora Khan dances to a song which goes Munni badnaam hui darling tere liye… main Zandu Balm hui darling tere liye. The company has claimed that the producers have used the brand name without its consent.
Emami said that it has sole copyright of not just the product but also the name ‘Zandu Balm’. The notice sent by Emami’s counsel to Arbaaz Khan Production Pvt Ltd, Malaika Arora Khan (Munni in the movie), Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd and its promoter Dhilin Mehta, and director Abhinav Kashyap said: “My clients are in the business of producing and marketing various ayurvedic and other medicines including a popular product known as Zandu Balm. In the song, the name Zandu Balm has been used continuously at various places. By using the brand name in the song, you have not only violated the copyright of my clients, but you have also made an attempt to defame the reputation of my clients and the product manufactured by them”.
Emami has now asked the producers to either withdraw the song or delete the brand name from it. When asked why the company had sent the legal notice now, though the song has been on air for over a month, Emami Director Harsh Agarwal said: “As of now we cannot say anything on this matter.” Agarwal did not make any comment on the damages that Emami has claimed.
Dabangg has been one of the biggest hits in recent times. Its first weekend box office collections of Rs 49 crore broke all records. It overtook the first weekend collections of Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots at Rs 42 crore and Ghajini at Rs 40 crore. Even after the initial euphoria about the film ebbed, the film has continued to stand its ground. Film trade analysts said that the film is doing very well in states like Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Bihar and Rajasthan.

Over the last festive weekend, Dabangg ensured that theatres across the country were reverberated with hooting, clapping and cheering.While most of the resounding applause went out to Salman Khan’s character Chulbul Pandey, the audience also reserved some for his arch enemy Chhedi Singh, played by Sonu Sood, especially every time the latter went shirtless to show off his chiseled body. “I’ve had six packs ever since college days when they weren’t in fashion,” smiles Sood when we catch up with him.
His friend and director Abhinav Kashyap has very well exploited the actor’s fitness mania, having portrayed him as a wrestler, local politician and a goon. Sood recounts that he is the first actor Kashyap approached for the film’s casting. “Abhinav, who co-wrote the film, was the one who recommended me to Mani Ratnam to play Abhishek Bachchan’s brother in Yuva, and we have since been friends. He told me a bit about the character but didn’t reveal the script till he had completed it.”

Apart from bringing him into the limelight, Dabangg also fulfilled his wish for an action movie, though it cost the actor a surgery. “We were to shoot the climax sequence where Salman holds my neck between his legs and turns me around. While rehearsing the scene, the action master’s knee jammed into my nose and I ended up with two fractures,” he says. Unfortunately, there were no well-equipped hospitals in the vicinity of the small town where they were shooting. “We contemplated returning to Mumbai for an emergency surgery. But that would have meant wasting 600 people-crew’s time. So I just shot for a week with a fractured nose,” recalls Sood.

For the remake of the South hit Bodyguard, Atul Agnihotri has decided to do away with the title. “Atul wants to change the title from Bodyguard to My Love Story. Basically, Bodyguard is a romantic flick and Atul felt that My Love Story would be an apt title for it,” said our source.
Interestingly, My Love Story was to be based on Salman Khan’s personal life. But Atul then had a change of heart. He will now use the title for the Bodyguard remake,” said our source.

Never an active participant in the race for the top slot, hero of the front-benchers plans giant bash to stake his claim as Bollywood’s real No 1.
Over the last two decades, as the Khan triumvirate of Shah Rukh, Aamir and Salman battled for the No 1 spot, the hero of the front-benchers and star resident of Galaxy Apartments, Bandra, always shunned spin doctors and image consultants. But Salman Khan is set to break that pattern.
With his latest hit Dabangg garnering more than Rs 50 crore in the first week of its release, Sallu is planning to host a mammoth bash to mark his territory, and stake his claim as the real top dog in the film industry.
According to sources, this party by the Khan brothers – Salman, Arbaaz and the relatively low-profile Sohail – will not only be to ce lebrate the success of their latest movie but also an open show of strength as a formidable film family.
When it comes to being image savvy, Shah Rukh and Aamir have left no stone unturned in the past to be a step ahead of each other, if only to reinforce their clout in the industry.
If SRK would have his dinners and private dos with his clique; recently Aamir had Argentine musician Gustavo Santaolalla, who did the background score for his wife Kiran Rao’s film Dhobi Ghat, over in town for a bit of a flutter.
Proving that having separate cliques are no longer enough, he broke party lines by inviting people from all camps to a series of private events.
Salman, always the slowest of the three to understand the importance of such branding, has finally warmed up to the formula.
Says a close friend of the actor, “Salman never believed in show-sha. He has recently got himself a professional company to manage his business for the first time.

The bash will be hosted within the next two weeks, and it is believed that the actor is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that it is pitched right – a glamorous event, thickly dotted with friends and colleagues, which will remain a talking point in the industry for a long time.
Says our source, “The Khans are understandably over the moon with the success of Dabangg.
In fact, Salman is quite taken aback by it.”
A year ago, following the success of Wanted, the star suffered duds such as Main Aur Mrs Khanna and London Dreams. Now he is back in full form.
Says Arbaaz Khan, the star’s brother and producer of the film, “We are looking at one of the biggest hits of the industry.
We wish to share the joy because a hit of this magnitude means prosperity for the entire industry.”
The venue of the bash could either be a 7-star hotel or Salman’s Lonavala farm.
The guests will include the Bachchans, the Kapoors, the Chopras, the Roshans, Amir Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Kajol and Ajay Devgn, Saif-Kareena. Conspicuous by their absence, perhaps, will be SRK and Vivek Oberoi.

Move over Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan has announced his arrival on big stage. Though, Salman’s zing is colouring the silver screen for the past two decades, post Dabangg, his price tag seems to have sky rocketed.

Sajid Nadiadwala is producing the next Salman-Sonakshi flick ‘Kick’ and he has asked for a handsome Rs 75 crore from Eros company if they wish to acquire the rights of the film. Though, the price is extremely high, Eros is mulling over the matter (after all, Veer had fallen flat at the box office and Eros had suffered a major loss).
Mumbai mirror reports, “After the Blockbuster Dabangg, Salman and Sonakshi have become the hottest pair in town. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala, who is casting the duo in his next production, Kick, has quoted a huge amount for the film. Eros is very close to Salman and Sajid and have done Salman’s last two films, Veer and Dabangg.”

Mumbai, Sep 19 (IANS) Salman Khan starrer “Dabangg” has hit the bull’s eye at the box office and the film’s producer Arbaaz says they are planning to celebrate the success.
“Yes, we’re going to have a celebration very shortly. So far because of the way ‘Dabangg’ has gone, we haven’t been able to plan out full details. But yes we will invite all our friends and colleagues. We want to share our happiness,” said Arbaaz.
There are many firsts attached to “Dabangg” – this is Arbaaz’s first production venture, Abhinav Kashyap’s first movie as a director and it also launched Sonakshi Sinha as an actress.
For Arbaaz, “Dabangg” is not only a family achievement, but a personal triumph too.
“To be finally recognised for my work is a feeling I can’t describe. Personally, I had never dreamt the film would become so big. If you say the film has been a success because of the way it was marketed and because Salman is liked in action roles, I’d have to disagree. Salman went all out for ‘Veer’ as well,” he said.
“As for action, yes ‘Wanted’ was a success in the action genre. But not to the extent of ‘Dabangg’. Besides action ‘Dabangg’ had the comic element, great music (by Sajid-Wajid) and the girl (Sonakshi Sinha) has been immensely liked. Who knows what it is? All I know is that me and my family are looking at one of the biggest hits of the industry and we’d like to believe the entire industry shares our joy because a hit of this magnitude means prosperity for the entire industry.”
When asked about the guest list for the impending bash, Arbaaz said: “Ideally, we’d like to invite everyone in the film industry. But that would mean a guest list of 15,000 to 20,000 people. We can’t manage that. So we’d restrict ourselves to all our friends. Trust me it would be quite a list.”
The guest list may include the Bachchan family, Shatrughan-Poonam-Sonakshi Sinha, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao, Sanjay-Manyata Dutt, Ajay Devgn-Kajol, Karan Johar, Rani Mukerji, Hrithik-Susanne Roshan, Imran Khan and his fiancée Aavantika, Rishi, Ranbir and Neetu Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Saif Ali Khan-Kareena Kapoor.

Vivek Oberoi vs. Salman Khan: Was Vivek right in storming off?
Recently, Vivek Oberoi stormed off from a press conference after a reporter asked him if he would be inviting Salman for his wedding (Vivek is to tie the knot with Priyanka Alva on 29th October, 2010).
It so transpired that Vivek was to give interviews for promoting his upcoming flick ‘Rakhta Charita’ in which he plays the role of the sinister Paritala Ravi. Vivek had come clad in the black kurta that his character wears in the major chunk of the film. Vivek was pretty animated about his film and seemed gung ho about the long interview sessions. However, when asked if he would be inviting Salman on his wedding, he got snubbed and asked the reporter to shut down his camera. He even demanded an apology for catching him off-guard. When the reporter didn’t, he stormed off leaving other reporters stunned.
A source from Mumbai Mirror reports, “Vivek shouldn’t have stormed out. There were channels which were supposed to interview him after that. His wig-out led to those two interviews being cancelled. He could have merely said that he doesn’t want to answer that particular question about his wedding. The reporter in question was just doing her duty.”
It’s true that the reporter was performing her duty but, at times, the constant attempt of the paparazzi to ask scandalous questions is bound to raise the temper of the victimised actors. (ENSNN)

Sonu Sood is enjoying the attention for his role as Cheddi Singh in Dabangg but few know that before making it big in Bollywood, he’d found his calling in Chennai and started his acting career with a Tamil film. His turning point in life came when he left the security of an engineering job for films.
My mother strongest
“My mother was my constant guide when I decided to step into unfamiliar territory. I remember she was desperately waiting for me to come back to Punjab after four years in Nagpur (where I studied engineering). But when I told her about my acting aspirations, she was quick to tell me that I should follow my dreams,” says Sonu. Thus started his ordeal to make it big in the film industry. “I used to go to the offices of directors to drop my portfolio and they wouldn’t even glance at it. I would sulk and my mother quietly listened to my rants and told me to hang on. She started writing letters to inspire me, despite our talking frequently over the phone.”
It was his acting in Tamil and Telegu films which brought him recognition and opened doors in Bollywood. But before all the stardom, he had to learn the language. “I was at my wits’ end when my director told me that I have to learn Tamil. Just when I was thinking of giving up and returning to Punjab, I got an unexpected gift in my mail. It was a book on mastering spoken Tamil which my mother had sent. I would sit with the book every night, noting down the difficult words, conversing in Tamil with the assistant directors. Gradually, my language improved,” says Sonu.
When days are dark
Now whenever he is upset, Sonu takes out his treasure chest filled with the inspirational letters and reads them over and over again. “I now understand why she wrote those letters. She knew that she won’t always be there to hold my hand. This was her way of showing that she is always there,” says Sonu, who lost his mother two years ago. “It made me realise that I was lost without her. She was my source of strength,” he concludes.

Salman Khan: The common man’s superstar
Back in the 1990s, Salman Khan captured the attention of starry-eyed teenagers and front benchers with his muscular, good looks and charming intensity. Two decades later, Salman is still greeted with wolf whistles and catcalls every time he struts about on screen, shrugs off his shirt or breaks into a jig.
Last week, he swaggered on to the silver screen as the swashbuckling Chulbul Pandey, doing what he does best — beating up the baddies, swinging his hips and wooing the woman of his dreams. Cash registers haven’t stopped ringing ever since Dabangg’s release, all thanks to the star who plays the enigmatic bad-boy-with-a-heart-of-gold with ease.
And while director Abhinav Kashyap claims that he had to rewrite the role several times to get Salman’s body language and mannerisms incorporated, the actor insists that he was not playing himself on screen. “I am nothing like the characters I portray in my films,” he says.
Industry observers, film critics, fans and friends agree that Chulbul Pandey works because he has many shades — he is romantic, emotional, comic and masculine, a self-deprecating and over-the-top portrayal of Salman himself. “He plays the cheeky Chulbul to perfection. Its Salman’s best performance till date,” says actor Aamir Khan.
However, despite his undeniable star power, box office clout, and the exclusive membership to the Khan trinity (Aamir-Salman-Shah Rukh) club, the actor has always been the ‘hero of the masses’ with the ‘thinking’ moviegoers often dismissing him as loud and over-hyped.
Salman has also come under criticism for his off-screen reputation as ‘Bollywood’s brat’, a tag that the actor seems uncomfortable with. “I am a regular guy, trying to live my life as best I can,” he says. His knack of walking into trouble may have affected people’s opinion of him as an actor, but those who know him claim that he has a heart of gold. “He is mercurial and often misunderstood but he is a great human being and will never hurt anyone intentionally,” says father Salim Khan.

Gossip magazines are full of juicy tidbits from his personal life, a drunken brawl here, a rocky affair there. More recently, he received flak for his controversial statements on the Mumbai terror attacks. But Salman continues to remain unfazed and untouched, thanks to the goodwill he commands within and outside the film industry.
“The Salman I know is God’s good man who may do or say something politically incorrect once in a while. But he is a gem of a person,” says actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha whose daughter, Sonakshi, made her debut opposite Salman in Dabangg.

School teacher Suhana Vashist feels that the actor has two sides, just like all of us. “He is a man of contrasts — a rash driver who ran over people, a generous star who runs a charity, a domineering and overbearing lover and a caring and protective brother and son.” Another fan, Ramesh Dighe, says that Salman’s darker side represents the complexity of the times we live in and the positive one reinforces the belief in the innate goodness of all human beings.
Meanwhile, his latest film is setting new benchmarks and winning over more fans from the other side. Fans and critics are raving about Salman’s “old-fashioned masculinity” that has been combined with kitschy mass appeal. “Dabangg’s popularity has cut across the class divide and even those who are not hardcore Salman loyalists are flocking to theatres,” says trade analyst Komal Nahta, referring to box office collections at the multiplexes.
So, why the sudden interest in the shirtless wonder of Bollywood, who gets written off every time he slips in real life but seems to bounce right back?Like everything else about Salman, his resilience and mass appeal is hard to explain. “He is a great human being, a complete entertainer and his films portray his larger-than-life personality,” says friend and colleague, Govinda.
In an industry where Aamir is perceived as the perfect actor and marketing guru and Shah Rukh as the media savvy businessman, Salman remains the quintessential Bollywood hero who gets to beat up the goons, mouth cheesy dialogues and show off his well-toned body.

Sonakshi Sinha, the heroine of ‘Dabangg’, the film that is most likely to replace ‘3 Idiots’ as the biggest blockbuster ever in the history of Indian cinema, is the daughter of actor-politician Shatrughn Sinha. The Salman Khan-starrer was her debut film.
The actress talks about her debut film, family and her image transformation.
You were pretty much kept under the wraps for most part of the making of ‘Dabangg’.
That was a strategic move and something that happens with every debutant. The idea behind staying undercover was to enhance the curiosity factor. There is no point talking for months at a stretch when a bigger impact can be created in a much lesser time around the release. I had such a good time filming ‘Dabangg’ that the day the shoot ended, I cried. When you work with the same unit for a year, it does become a family after all!
You would have relished your time with Salman as well, right?
I respect him as an actor and look up to him because there was so much to learn from him. I have always felt like Salman’s friend because our families are quite close. As a child I remember growing up with ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’. But do you know that it wasn’t because of Salman; it was due to Bhagyashree! I was her biggest fan ever.
Was films a part of everyday family conversation during the last few years when your launch pad was being decided?
Not really. We have very ordinary conversations at home like in any other family. We don’t talk about films all the time. In fact my dad is in to politics and we talk about that more.
How did you go about preparing for your role in ‘Dabangg’?
I haven’t lived in UP or Bihar but I am well aware of life there. We have a modest home in Patna where my grandmother used to stay. I visit Patna once or twice a year and life there is not alien to me. I have been there many times with my father as well when he had set out to campaign for the elections. I am a good observer and the culture there has naturally been imbibed into my behaviour.
When you got into a rural zone for ‘Dabangg’, didn’t it bother you that you might get slotted in a certain kind of roles?
For ‘Dabangg’, the makers wanted me to carry a certain look. Just wait and watch. I might be seen in an altogether different avatar! I’ve just made my debut. Give me some more time.

Salman looked stylish in an embroidered dress shirt and faded blue jeans. He was surrounded by Khan family members, friends and Dabangg co-star Sonakshi Sinha while taking the Ganesh idol to the sea. He personally supervised the loading of the idol on a carriage bedecked with flowers.

Shatrughan Sinha, praising Salman and his family’s secular lifestyle told PTI, “On Saturday, when I went to their house, they were celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi on one floor and Eid on another.”

Aside from the verdict on the Babri Masjid case, the Dabangg factor is causing panic among the producers of the film, who are pumping in Rs 5 crore extra for its publicity

The makers of Anjaana Anjaani are at present a worried lot. In a four-hour, closed-door meeting on Saturday afternoon, between Sajid Nadiadwala and the film’s co-producers, Eros Entertainment, two definite realisations were as follows: there is no point in postponing the release date despite the Babri Masjid verdict; and that Dabangg is not disappearing from theatres.
As a heads-up to this, producer Sajid Nadiadwala has now decided to pump in approximately Rs 5 crore extra into the publicity and marketing machinery of his product.
Says a source close to Anjaana Anjaani, “We slotted our film two weeks after Dabangg. We never thought it would continue to be this strong. Huge amounts of money and time are going into the marketing of Anjaana Anjaani. Ranbir and Priyanka are doing their publicity events on a war footing.”
Director Siddharth Anand played down these anxieties though. “I’d like to believe that the success of Dabangg means good news and better business for Anjaana Anjaani.
People are now in the mood to return to theatres. And who says two films can’t do well simultaneously? In 2006, there were big films one after the other every two weeks. And all of them did well.
God willing, people would want to watch our film because after Dabangg they’re in the mood to visit theatres.”
Producer Sajid Nadiadwala confirms, “We did consider withdrawing Anjaana Anjaani because the court’s decision on Babri Masjid-Ayodhya is on the day of our release.

However the international prints to countries as far-flung as Germany have already gone. We’ve spent a fortune on marketing and publicity. Our hoardings are up.
There are 40 of them in Mumbai and we’ve the right to have them up for a limited period. Yes, we are spending a substantially extra amount on promotions this week, because it is impossible to hold back the release.
The producers are also piggy-backing on the Commonwealth Games, slated for October 3. “We will have dignitaries from all over the world. The government can’t afford any untoward incident in the country,” says Sajid.

Breaking News:Dabangg breaks another BO record

MUMBAI: Dabangg, the masala entertainer that’s being lapped up by cinegoers all over the country, has crossed another milestone. After breaking the opening weekend record collection of 3 Idiots, it has now netted Rs 81.57 crore in its first week, creating Bollywood box-office history.
“Judging by the first-week performance, Dabangg looks like a blockbuster,” said trade analyst Amod Mehra, adding that this is probably only the third smash hit in Salman Khan’s career after Maine Pyaar Kiya and Hum Aapke Hain Koun!
Adds film distributor Suniel Wadhwa, “Dabangg’s first-week net box-office collection is the highest ever figure for an opening week. It has surpassed all major circuit business, leaving 3 Idiots behind with big margins in Delhi, UP, east Punjab and Rajasthan. It has done less business in Bombay circuit, West Bengal and Mysore.”
Although trade pundits felt the collections would drop in multiplexes in the second week, the film has been doing exceptionally well both in single screens and multiplexes. Said Manoj Desai of the G-7 chain, “We’ve had record collections, with all 21 shows (with 1000-seat capacity) going houseful in the last one week. After a very long time, we’ve put up a houseful board for one whole week.”
Action films haven’t really fared well in multiplexes, but Dabangg seems to have broken the jinx. Devang Sampat, senior vice-president of Cinemax Cinemas, agrees. “More than the action, it’s the comedy that has worked well with audiences. I also feel Dabangg is more of a marketing success rather than just content. The right promos at the right time worked for the film. The film is still maintaining its business at the box-office, and the second weekend too will be superb,” he said.
Fun Cinemas’ assistant vice-president (programming) Bhumika Tewari observes, “The audiences want to experience the film both in single screens and multiplexes. Those who have watched it in multiplexes are watching it again in single screens. The fact that it has broken the record of 3 Idiots has generated curiosity among audiences.”
Amod Mehra predicts that the success of Dabangg will revive the `70s trend of action-packed entertainers. “All Amitabh Bachchan starrers like Amar Akbar Anthony, Muqaddar Ka Sikander and Sholay were films that had huge action packed with loads of entertainment,” he says
