BLACK (2005) – BoxOffice Operation.
“Less than two weeks after its Korea release — billed as the biggest for a Hindi movie there — Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s critically-acclaimed “Black” has shot up to the third spot at that country’s box office.”
This news ignites many of us to know the how exactly BLACK had performed at Indian Boxoffice when it was released in 2005.

Black was released on 4th February, 2005. It was produced under Applause Entertainment banner.Primirily it was budgeted 12 Crore. But due to fire accident at expensive set at shimla, its budget exceeded by 5 Crore. With print and publicity cost its final budget was 18 Crore. From overseas it earned 9 Crore approx(4.5 Crore distribution share), and another 5 Crore(Minimum) from sattelite and Home video/Music rights. This makes total recovery of 9.5 crore. Now from indian market it was required another 8.5 Crore distribution share for Recovery. And It made 26 Crore nett ( 17 crore distribution share). Means ROI is 200%.

check 2005 film information and boxoffice magzine data sets, and you can easily calculate the rest of missing centres. well rudresh i also like your’s analysis, just the diffrence is for current movies i do have my own set of sample data(this is verified) to cross check the authenticity of filminformation and other sources. and ofcourse i also give importance to other factors like trending, WOM, Relative performance, Recall value. relative performance is most important which all other sources just missed.
Well in future i will try to make it more transparent ( like presenting digitally signed off data from distributors). However it will take little more time.
I dont think Black collected 27 cr in India….
Also the distribution share in India was not more than 10 cr..

film black is mind blowing film.i love this film.superb film.

What means latest ??? Ye koi bhaji tarkari hai kya .. Pahle 2/- ki thi ab 5/- ki ho gayi hai ??? Now don’t tell me that SRK movies are still running in amazon jungles and is launching on Mars and Moon, thats why BOI changed his verdicts ……
Old verdicts of BOI was purely unbiased because that time site owner was not Bollywood fan .. not SRK fan …
After 2003 its owner become SRK fan and you can sense it by gradually changing verdicts of all movies with in 4-5 years …

netting just 26 cr , how it,s distribution share could b 17 cr . it should b 14 cr if netted 26 cr .
i think this movie should b above avg or semi hit if netted 26 cr
